Won in a competition through OJEU, our clients Crest Nicholson were successful in becoming the preferred developer for the new Riverside scheme. An extension to the existing High Street and Marlowes shopping core, the scheme brought a much sought after new Anchor department store to the town (Debenhams) together with many new retail brands new to the town, a Health Club, 150 bedroom Hotel, Multi-storey car park, Residential apartments, Bus Interchange and extensive Public Realm around the River Gade with its 3 bridges linking the two parts of the scheme as it straddled the river corridor.

When completed the scheme successfully repositioned the town in the national retail hierarchy and allowed it to compete favourably with the nearby established regional centre of Watford with a powerful but different mix of tenants.
