Greater Reykjavik has a population of over 170,000 and has greatly expanded peripherally during the last fifteen years. This has led to difficulties in the city centre in terms of lack of investment and traffic congestion which are common problems found in other cities in the world. Bernard Engle were appointed by Reykjavik City Council to undertake a strategic review of the City Centre master plan, and the planning policies.
